Fancy Pants… and Red

16 Nov

The holidays always bring parties and events.  Basically really good excuses to get dolled up.  When we get fancied up we love love LOVE sparkle! Here are some of our go to holiday colors.

Red: My favorite colors to use for the holidays are purples and golds.  I love to combine them for super pretty looks. Two of my favorite holiday purples are in the Sephora Magic Eye Shadow Palette in Cool. It’s not available on Sephora anymore, but I did find it on eBay.

I love to pair those purples with Stila’s eye shadow in Oasis or Urban Decay’s Urban Cowboy.

Something I will be using A LOT of this holiday season is glitter liner. I picked some up at Ulta not too long ago and I can’t wait to use it.  After looking at several options, I ended up with Too Faced Starry-Eyed in Stalkerazzi.

Pants: I know this sounds crazy, but I’m a fan of sparkly holiday looks too. Like Red, I love gold for a holiday look. I guess it just makes me think of Christmas tree decorations and big bows on presents. Anyway, I’ve been messing around with a burgundy and gold look after rediscovering a gorgeous eyeshadow I forgot I had.

It took me a while to find a true metallic gold that didn’t look yellow. Then I found Tarina Tarantino’s Magic Hour Cream Shadow in Golden Shadow which is the perfect combo of metallic and glitter.

Lately I’ve been wearing the gold on my lid, with a burgundy in the crease and as a liner. The burgundy I’ve used in the crease is Colour Du Jour by Lancome, and has a gold sparkle in it. Blended in the crease, it adds a nice hint of gold while giving a smokey eye look. I used Lancome’s Backstage Pass, an “intense” deep burgundy as a liner. This can be an everyday look if you blend i outt, or you can go a little darker for a dramatic holiday look.

Of course, you don’t need these exact colors to recreate that look. I’m sure you can find a burgundy anywhere, and if you want it to have a hint of gold, just put some gold glittery shadow over top. However, I would highly recommend the Tarina Tarantino gold shadow though because I searched for over a year for a gold like that.
