Violet! You’re turning violet, Violet!

2 Sep

Today InStyle posted an article about the five beauty products that flatter everyone. In the eyeshadow department, purple happens to be a color that flatters everyone because “it’s not too cool or too warm.” Luckily, purples, plums, violets and all those other grape-y colors are in this season, so we’re going to share our favorite purple eyeshadows.

It’s easy to create a purple smokey eye when you use different shades of purple. In fact, here’s a tutorial video by one of our makeup heros, Kandee Johnson.

Dark purples are fun to use as eyeliners with almost any shade of eyeshadow (especially pinks!). Here are some good dark purple liners.

Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in Black Plum by Estee Lauder (Pants approved!)

Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Hyperliner in Ultraviolet (Red Approved)

Pure Color Eyeshadow in Amethyst by Estee Lauder (Pants approved!)

Just use an angled brush with this shadow to line your lids.

Magic Hour Cream Shadow in Purple Velvet by Tarina Tarantino (Pants & Red approved)

This can be used with an angled brush too, and works like a liquid liner. It’s more of a deep purple with a brown tint to it when used as a liner. This eyeshadow also comes in gold, which happens to be another universal shade.

A great color for the purple smokey eye is Lorac’s After Party.

If you want to take the bright route, then Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow in Flash might be the right purple for you. (Pants approved)

MAC’s Brash and Bold in the Venomous Villains Collection

This is a great purple pigment that we just can’t get over. Also, how fun is a villains collection?

Ooooooh, I’ll have to check that one out next time I’m at Target. I could seriously look at makeup in Target for two hours. I went to Macy’s today, and they have a MAC counter and I almost lost my mind. It was so much to take in. If I had been by myself, I probably would have looked a lot longer, but for my mom’s sake, I just got the Gaga lipstick and went on.
