Here on the east coast we are having a monsoon. We decided to have us a little fun on such a gloomy day.
Today was the first day of Kindermusik for my daughter and me. We also had to make a trip to Lowe’s, but afterward we were in for the day. For my makeup look I didn’t want anything too crazy, but definitely some sparkle on the eyes. I usually play up my eyes and stay very nude on the lips. Yes I know my hair looks like balls. Has rain ever made anyone’s hair look good? If so I’d like to meet that person and punch them in the face. Out of love and admiration of course!

Some of us can’t be as naturally beautiful as Pinkus, so we try to make up for it with makeups. I’m really excited in that photo because this is her third puke-free day in a row! The poor thing has been sick and on antibiotics. BTW, giving kitties medicine isn’t easy.
ANYWAY, today I worked, but it was rainy and gross, so I was kind of lazy. (And I’ve got a case of the ball hair like Red. Wait, what? That didn’t come out right. THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID!) Plus, during the week I try to keep my routine simple since I don’t always get up on time and need to make it to work by 9. Today I just went with some brown/bronze on the eyes, nothing too exciting. Unfortunately, because it’s gloomy I couldn’t get the best lighting for this picture. Where did you go Mr. Sunshine?! Fall can stay as long as it’s sunny and not rainy.

Well, we’re going to ask Mr. Red if he can stop doing his rain dances, because we are sick of this BS. Anyone know any sunshine dances?
Ever see someone with pretty makeup and wish you knew how to recreate that look? It’s not always easy to do it on your own, but luckily we’ve got all kinds of makeup artists and gurus on the Internet to teach us the tricks.
We wanted to share with you some of our favorites.
Carmindy– If you’ve ever watched “What Not To Wear,” you’ve seen Carmindy work her magic. Her signature is the five-minute face, a technique she teaches women who say they don’t have time to put on makeup. She’ll add the essentials and show that just a little bit of makeup can make a big difference in just a short amount of time. Pants credits Carmindy with teaching her how to use an angled brush to line her eyes and the importance of a tinted moisturizer with an SPF.
In our last storage post, Red talked about needing a storage overhaul, and ‘ol Pants thought she was in good shape.
Then we both started watching makeup storage videos and little light bulbs were popping up everywhere.
We’ve both updated how we store our precious makeup, and we want to share what we’ve done and let you know how we like it.
I thought my Caboodle was all I needed… but then I realized I DID still have four makeup bags full in my closet. In the first was all my free samples from Sephora. (If you’ve never ordered from them before, you always get to choose three free samples with each order!) They didn’t get used since they were packed away in my linen closet.
The poll results are in and it seems that the item you love to splurge on is mascara.
Here is what we splurge on.
Mascara is one thing I don’t typically splurge on. I normally just use a drug store brand. When I want to splurge I usually do so on eyeshadows and palettes. I can’t resist sparkly pretty eye colors. It’s definitely a weakness of mine. Recently I splurged on the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume III. It was well worth it! I’ve been having so much fun in the mornings putting together different eye looks with the Book of Shadows. Today I’m wearing one of the purple colors and I LOVE it!
Like Red, I don’t typically splurge on mascara. I usually only use pricey ones when I have a free sample. My most recent splurge was also the Urban Decay Book of Shadows III. And like Red, I’m really loving mixing the colors every morning. I’m an eyeshadow girl, and if you add bright colors and sparkles, it’s hard for me to resist.
But that’s no fun for me to have the same splurge, so I’ll pick out another recent item. I guess the most recent splurge would be a makeup brush – the Tarina Tarantino Kapinki Brush.
I basically bought this to “complete the set.” I already had the Tarina Tarantino Fuscia Revolution Brush Set, so I needed this little guy too. I’m glad I splurged though because this brush is so much softer and thicker than the Sephora version (which I can’t find online, but they make a pink bristled kabuki). I use this brush for blush, and it’s great because it always looks clean since it’s the same color as my blush! Win-win. I’m always going for the win-win.
We love a good deal, especially when it’s a makeup deal. One thing we love almost as much as a good deal is sharing that deal. The more money we save, the more stuff we can buy, right? And the more money you save, the more you can spend on us! Er, um, you. We meant you. He he… So here are some great deals we’ve found around the web!
Pants bought this lovely ring last year, unfortunately before it was on sale. The sweet floral smell is very appropriate with the ring. This thing gets compliments each time it’s worn out on the town. And it’s a total two-for-one: a super cute cocktail ring and a solid perfume. It’s win-win, really.
Staying on the topic of bargains, today we’ve decided to talk about our favorite products you can find at the drugstore or Target/Walmart/Kmart. Because really, we can’t resist perusing the makeup aisles at these places either.
This stuff is ah-maz-ing. I have really fine, straight hair and when I use this product, my hair is HUGE. It doesn’t take much since my hair is shorter, but I apply it all over then flip my head over to dry. I used to love air drying my hair, but it’s gotten to the point where I’m so used to using this product, that I don’t like how my hair looks without it.
The last two times I’ve bought this product at Target, a free mini hair spray was included with it. It is the best smelling hair spray I’ve ever smelled in my life. I rarely use hairspray, but in the future, when I do, I will use Fructis.
