What can brown do for you?

26 Aug

Brown eyeshadow is universally flattering. It can make blue and green eyes pop, and dark shadow makes brown eyes look warmer. You can go natural or dramatic with brown, and it’s an easy shade to wear when you can’t decide what other color to wear.

That being said, today we’re going to talk about our favorite browns.

We’ve talked about the Urban Decay Naked Palette before, but we’re talk about it again because it’s AMAZING. And we know, it’s sold out at Urban Decay and Sephora, but Macy’s had it for a split second. From what we can tell, it’s not going to be a limited edition so you just need to be patient, and sign up to be notified when it’s back in stock. Trust us, it’s worth it.

Some of the browns in this palette are exclusives (Sidecar, Buck, Darkhorse and Hustle), but Half Baked, Smog and Toasted can all be purchased alone.

Pants’ thoughts on the Naked Palette: Smog is one of my favorites It’s a shimmery, coppery brown that I’ve gotten lots of compliments on, and really looks nice with my blue eyes.

Red’s thoughts on the Naked Palette: The Naked Palette gives you so many options.  You can be as subtle or as dramatic as you want to be. All of the colors work so well together.  I have to say that I am a super fan of Sidecar and Darkhorse.  I’ve been wearing them together a lot lately.

Pants’ picks:

I have two browns that are my go-to shades. The first one is Lucky Penny by Clinique. Clinique’s website describes the color as being in the pink family, but I definitely think it’s in the brown family. It’s a light copper – think of the color of a brand new penny that’s not covered in guck, and who knows what.

Clinique also has a duo with a great brown – Strawberry Fudge. It’s just a simple matte, medium brown, and is great for natural days. (The pink included in this set is definitely my favorite pink – it has gold tint to it.)

Another Urban Decay favorite is Underground, a dark, shimmery brown. It’s great for light colored eyes.

Red’s Picks:

I think my all time favorite brown is Satin Taupe by MAC.  It’s a very pretty color, and it is extremely easy to wear it as a light or as intense as you like.  It is also very wearable with many other colors.  One of my favorite things to do is to lightly wash it across my lid and a pair it with a smudgy navy blue liner.

Another favorite brown of mine is Go by MAC. It’s just another great brown that you can do just about anything with.  I actually love using it as a liner.

Pants beat me to the punch and already mentioned Underground by Urban Decay. I love that brown. She mentioned that it goes well with light colored eyes which it does, but I happen to love it with my hazel eyes.

Did we leave out any good browns? What are your favorites?

FYI: I ordered Sephora’s Naked Palette several days ago via Macys.com. Just this morning, I received notification that my other item has shipped… and that Naked is expected to be shipped on 09.28.10. A whole month!? I’m dying already!

Boooo! Well, at least it said it’s on the way and not, “Hey, about that. Yeah, we’re sold out. Sorry suckah!”

At least you have it ordered and you will soon have all of its goodness. I noticed on Sephora’s website today in bold red that they are still selling the palette, but production is very slow and to be patient. Pants is lucky that she had me watching Sephora like a hawk.
