Love for Lisa Eldridge

29 Feb

Many of the makeup gurus we watch on YouTube are just ladies who have taught themselves tricks over the years and have chose to share them. However, you will find the occasional professional makeup artist, and our favorite is Lisa Eldridge.

Lisa has so many helpful and informative videos. All of her looks are different – you’re not going to see her doing the same smokey eye or technique on every video like you see with some people. And we’re super jealous of how gorgeous she looks when she’s only wearing mascara.

She also has a great website where she posts photos of her work, and even has a place where you can suggest a look for her to do a tutorial!

Today we’re going to pick out a few of our favorite videos of Lisa’s to share with you!

One Lipstick …..Many Different Ways to Wear itIn this video, Lisa shows you how to wear a lipstick like a stain, and several other great techniques.

Beautifying Party/Prom Make Up (Photo Friendly) - Lisa shows you how to do a super chic party look.

Chic & Simple 5 Minute Make-Up Look - Here Lisa shows you how to do a super quick yet polished look. She even uses her signature lip liner.

Tried It Tuesday – Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminious Eyeshadow

28 Feb

This week’s Tried It Tuesday is brought to you by Red.

Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in #84 Epatant ($36, chanel.com)

I have had my eyes on these luminous eyeshadows for quite a while. I liked all of the shades, but after seeing Rachel Bilson’s Shoemint ad here I was set on Epatant. It’s a lovely taupe shade with a hint of green to it. I happen to love how this looks on my hazel eyes.

This eyeshadow is described as a gel. I’m not sure if that is the right definition. I would call it almost a mousse. It is very light and spongy. This lightness makes it nice for using it as a nice wash. It is incredibly easy to intensify the shade as well. It blends so easily. I have been wearing this shadow almost daily. I love the luminous quality to this shadow. The price tag is a little steep for one eyeshadow, but you do get a lot of product and a little goes a long long way.

I give Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminious Eyeshadow 4 out of 5 sparkles.

2012 Oscars Best Dressed Picks

27 Feb

We admit we haven’t seen most of the movies that were nominated for Academy Awards. But we’re still interested in what the ladies are wearing and how they did their hair and makeup. Here are our favorite looks from the 2012 Oscars.

Natalie Portman – Natalie always looks gorgeous. You don’t normally think of polka dots on the red carpet, but the cut and fit of this makes it work.

Tina Fey – Can we get this dress in every color, please? Thanks.

Emma Stone – The color, cut, and bow are all just adorable on Emma. She just looks so chic!

Tell us, who did you think was best dressed?

Valentine’s Pink

14 Feb

Happy Valentine’s Day, you guys. Instead of Tried It Tuesday here are some of our all-time favorite pink items.

Eyes:

Red - MAC’s Naked Lunch ($15, maccosmetics.com) – This shadow is a light shimmery pink and it is GORGEOUS. It pairs well with so many different shades. No worries, it’s a perfect shade alone as well. This happens to be one of Selena Gomez’s favorites. She keeps hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat and wears it over and over.

PantsClinique Strawberry Fudge ($19.50, clinique.com) – I don’t wear pink eyeshadow too often, but when I do, it’s usually this one from the Clinique Strawberry Fudge duo. The pink is a bright pastel pink with a gold shimmer in it. It’s not overpoweringly pink, and I love the hint of gold.

Cheeks:

Red – NARS Blush in Amour ($28, sephora.com) – This is a beautiful, bright peachy pink. It’s perfect in the summer, but can really punch up the winter as well. This happens to be one of Lauren Conrad’s favorites. Besides the beautiful color this is why I own this blush.

Pants – NARS Blush in Angelika ($28, sephora.com) - When I want a pink cheek, this is what I go to. I love the cotton candy pink of this blush, and it has tiny silver sparkles in it, too. It’s great for adding a pop of color to the apples of your cheeks.

Lips:

Red - Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum ($7.50, walgreens.com) – This is a super pretty plumy rose color and it gives your lips a nice flush. I like to use a light wash of this color over my lips.

Pants - Urban Decay Lip Junkie in Crush ($19, urbandecay.com) – I love bright lip colors, and this gloss is great for a hint of brightness. It’s a glossy fuchsia that works well alone, or adds a little pizazz over top of a hot pink lip stain.

Nails:

Red - Essie Nail Polish in Fun in the Gondola ($8, essie.com) – I like pink polish, but it’s not one that I typically gravitate toward when painting my nails. When I am in the mood for a pink polish I like Fun in the Gondola. Its a nice mauve pink and looks nice on my ghostly complexion.

Pants – Essie Nail Polish in A Cut Above ($8, essie.com) – I don’t really do pink nails. I’m more of a purple/green/blue/gray kinda girl. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pink glitter polish over top of purple polish. The pink and purple pair reminds me of Jem, one of my favorite cartoons from when I was little. I want to be truly outrageous too!

Tell us,  what are your favorite pinks?

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Foxy Browns

8 Feb

In the latest edition of People Style Watch Magazine, they say one of the trends for this spring is the brown smoky eye.

Amanda Seyfried wears it well.

So here are a few of our favorite palettes to pull off the brown smoky eye.

Urban Decay Naked Palette ($50, urbandecay.com) – I mean, obvi. There’s a great range of dark and medium browns to give you that perfect smoky eye. Try Toasted on the lid, Hustle in your crease and use Sin to highlight your brow bone. And you can even line your eyes with Hustle and Darkhorse, but make sure it smudge it on the top and bottom lid.

Too Faced Natural Eye Collection ($36, toofaced.com) – This collection is great because it gives you three looks you don’t have to think about. You’ve got a daytime, more natural brown smoky eye on the top, a slightly darker one in the middle, and then a night time look on the bottom. And you can, of course, mix and match to create your favorite look.

Dior ’5 Couleurs – New Look Eye Shadow Palette in Grege ($59, Nordstrom.com) – This little palette really packs a punch with its shades of browns. You can go light with your smoky eye for a daytime look or take it up a notch for nighttime.

Tell us do you like a smoky brown eye? What palettes or single shadows do you like to use?
